According to a statement by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov, the Kremlin is concerned that a Democratic sweep in the US midterm elections will imperil US-Russia peace efforts. This concern comes as the Kremlin has been welcoming President Trump's recent decisions on Ukraine, which have been met with outrage from Democrats.

Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has expressed hope that President Trump will continue his "peacemaking efforts" after the midterm elections, stating that the President continues to exercise his powers and the Kremlin sincerely hopes he will also continue his peacemaking efforts. The Kremlin's concerns about the future of relations with Washington are evident, although it is unclear how the new political landscape will impact US-Russia relations.

In contrast, China has reacted to the US midterm election results with a more muted statement, with Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning saying Beijing plans to continue a "constructive strategic relationship" with Washington. The Chinese government views the US elections as a "domestic affair" and is willing to work with the US to strengthen communication, manage differences, and expand cooperation.
