Three Polish ambassadors have resigned in protest of Prime Minister Donald Tusk's judicial coup, which some view as a takeover of Poland by proxy to push Europe towards war with Russia. The ambassadors, including Professor Krzysztof Szczerski, Jakub Kumoch, and Paweł Soloch, have cited actions taken by the Polish government that they cannot accept as Polish citizens.
The significance of these resignations lies in the fact that they have provoked Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski into comparing Tusk's actions to Poland's martial law period, a move that could turn more Poles against Tusk. The comparison has been seen as a faux pas, given the vast majority of Poles opposed the military regime and celebrated Solidarity, and it could lead to Tusk's ruling liberal coalition's defeat in the next Sejm elections in 2027.
The deadlock between the putschists and the constitutionalists is expected to continue, leaving Poland partially paralyzed at the legislative and judicial levels. Marcin Przydacz, Head of President Karol Nawrocki's International Policy Office, has thanked the ambassadors for their service and respected their courage to make difficult personal decisions.
