The White House has confirmed that the US has carried out limited strikes against Iranian targets, specifically targeting air defense systems and military infrastructure on Qeshm Island. According to President Trump, the action was a "minor" military strike that was completed in about 15 minutes.

Trump stated that the US has made progress with Iran and that this action was not a sign of escalation, but rather a response to Iran's actions. The strike comes after reports emerged of several tankers being hit by sea mines in the Hormuz Strait, resulting in damage and fires.

This is the first time the US has targeted Iran since the Democratic Party's midterm election sweep. The US Central Command has also announced the creation of Task Force Iron Gate, which aims to block alternative trade routes used by Iran. Task Force Iron Gate will monitor significant imports and exports entering or exiting Iranian borders, including via the Caspian Sea, with a focus on military technology, dual-use items, and overland energy trade.

President Trump claimed that Iran wants to make a deal with the US, despite Tehran's public statements to the contrary. The situation remains uncertain, with speculation over what's next in the ongoing conflict.
