Ed Gallrein, a Republican nominee, has won the House race in the congressional district previously represented by Thomas Massie in Kentucky. Gallrein defeated his Democrat opponent, Melissa Claire Strange, with 54.22% of the vote, according to the Associated Press, which reported 98.79% of the vote counted.
Gallrein, a farmer and retired U.S. Navy SEAL, had previously won the Republican primary for Kentucky's Fourth Congressional District, receiving the endorsement of President Donald Trump. This primary win set the stage for his general election victory over Strange, who garnered 40.86% of the vote.
In a post on X, Gallrein expressed his gratitude to the people of Kentucky's 4th Congressional District for electing him to represent them in the U.S. House of Representatives. He acknowledged the responsibility that comes with the privilege to serve and stated his readiness to work for the families, communities, and counties of the district.
Gallrein's win marks a new representation for the district, following the departure of outgoing Representative Thomas Massie.
