Federal authorities just arrested two Canadians accused of illegally voting in multiple U.S. elections.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) provided us with details about the case against Monique Gignac-Yochum, a lawful permanent resident from Canada.
Gignac-Yochum registered to vote in the state of Wisconsin by falsely claiming U.S. citizenship, ICE says.
She reportedly voted in general elections in 2022 and again in 2024.
A federal misdemeanor arrest warrant was issued out of the Western District of Wisconsin for her arrest on Oct. 23, 2026.
However, authorities learned Gignac-Yochum had relocated to Arizona.
ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Milwaukee notified HSI Tucson and Gignac-Yochum was taken into custody on Oct. 28 and charged with illegal voting.
“Gignac-Yochum allegedly voted illegally in not one, but two federal elections, then moved more than a thousand miles away,” said ICE Assistant Director of Public Affairs Micah Bock.
“Falsely claiming U.S. citizenship to vote isn’t a paperwork mistake. It’s a serious violation of federal law that undermines public trust in our elections. Moving across state lines didn’t put her beyond the reach of federal law enforcement. If someone breaks our election laws, they should expect to be held accountable.”
Gignac-Yochum faces up to one year in prison if convicted.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Wisconsin also announced voter fraud charges against another Canadian.
Rodger Dedrick, 66, a Canadian citizen living in Stoughton, Wisconsin, was charged with falsely claiming U.S. Citizenship when registering to vote and illegally voting. He faces up to five years in prison if convicted.
The Trump administration continues to expand its crackdown on foreign nationals illegally voting in U.S. elections.
