The Pope reflected on the countless family of men and women who have made their lives a gift to God and to their neighbors, describing them as poor in spirit, yet rich in God's love, and meek in the face of violence, yet rewarded by the Father. The Pope also asked the faithful to invoke the intercession of the newly beatified martyrs, Pedro de Corpa and four companions, who were killed in odium fidei in 1597.
The Pope expressed hope for dialogue and peace initiatives, and entrusted those suffering from war to Mary, Queen of Peace and of All Saints. He also greeted participants in the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal, and congratulated the Friars Minor on their initiative, the Mission with the Poor, which will take place in Rome from November 8 to 15.
The Pope will celebrate Mass at the Verano Cemetery tomorrow to commemorate All the Faithful Departed.
