Russia must show the evidence behind its claims: UK statement to the OSCE

The UK Government has issued a statement to the OSCE, condemning Russia's deadly strikes on Ukrainian civilians, including in Dnipro and Komyshuvakha. UK Senior Military Advisor, Colonel Joby Rimmer, challenged Russia's use of unverified sources and unsupported attributions to support its claims.

The statement highlighted recent attacks, including a Russian drone strike on a crowded platform at Dnipro's main railway station, which killed at least 14 people. The UK also criticized Russia's presentation of unverified information as fact, citing examples where claims were made without supporting evidence.

For instance, Russia claimed that the International Committee of the Red Cross had verified the absence of military targets at warehouses in the Leningrad region, but this claim was not confirmed by the ICRC itself. The UK statement emphasized the need for Russia to provide credible evidence to support its claims, rather than relying on unverified sources and repetition of false information.

The UK condemned Russia's attacks on Ukrainian civilians and called for an end to the spread of misinformation. The statement was made to the OSCE, an international forum that aims to promote security and cooperation in Europe.
