The UK Government has announced that HM Land Registry has published its third dataset on avoidable requisitions, aiming to help conveyancers and law firms improve application quality and reduce delays. This release is part of ongoing efforts to minimize errors and omissions in applications that can cause registration delays and create extra work for firms.

The newly published dataset covers the period from 1 April to 30 September 2026, providing firms with updated information to review their application quality and focus on areas that need improvement. According to HM Land Registry analysis, there has been sustained progress in reducing avoidable requisition points since 2022, with a notable decrease in errors and omissions that could have been prevented before submission.

Avoidable requisition points, which include issues such as missing identity evidence and unclear plans, fell from around 839,000 in 2022 to 439,000 in 2025, representing a 47.7% reduction. When adjusted for application volumes, the rate of avoidable requisition points decreased by 39.1%, indicating a genuine improvement in application quality rather than just a result of fewer applications.
