A new £5 million flood defence scheme which reduces flood risk for homes, businesses and infrastructure in Severn Stoke is fully operational ahead of winter.

The scheme, which finished ahead of schedule, was delivered in partnership by the Environment Agency and Worcestershire County Council, working with contractors Alun Griffiths Construction Ltd.

Works included creating a new flood bank that runs to the west of the village. New drainage works to manage surface water and a section of raised road where it crosses over the flood bank.

Additional landscaping including tree planting, habitat creation and fencing will be completed over the coming months.

Across the country, the government is investing at least £10.5 billion up until 2036 into new and existing flood defence that will benefit nearly 900,000 properties.
