Bernie Sanders says alleged Democratic ballot-stacking in Alaska was ‘pretty dumb’

Senator Bernie Sanders stated that the alleged Democratic ballot-stacking in Alaska was "pretty dumb" but not illegal. He made this comment during an interview with Margaret Brennan on Face the Nation, where he also expressed that attempts to confuse voters are not a good thing to do.

The controversy in the Alaska Senate race began when Democrats allegedly recruited a candidate with a similar name to the Republican candidate, Senator Dan Sullivan, in an effort to pull votes away from him. The Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against the state, but a US District Judge dismissed the case, stating that the DOJ lacked standing.

Senator Sanders' comments on the matter come as some Republicans, including Senator Tim Sheehy of Montana, have alleged that there was fraud perpetrated against the people of Alaska. Sanders argued that the federal government should not be involved in state elections and that the people of Alaska can make their own decisions.

He emphasized the importance of the upcoming midterm elections, stating that it is perhaps the most important in US history, and expressed his support for Democratic candidates, including Abdul el Sayed in Michigan. Sanders believes that despite disagreements within the party, Democrats can still pull off a win in the critical races.
