The top states to watch for early clues on election night

The outcome of the election could become apparent early on Tuesday night as results start to come in from various states. According to the Washington Examiner, the earliest polls close at 6 p.m. Eastern in Indiana and Kentucky, where Democrats have contested some races, potentially providing an early indication of how the night will fare for both parties.

Virginia is expected to be a key state to watch, with several competitive races that could signal the size of the Democratic wave. A Democratic victory in the Virginia Beach-area seat, currently held by Rep. Jen Kiggans, would be an encouraging sign for the party.

Additionally, flipping Rep. Rob Wittman's seat, which is rated a toss-up, would suggest a stronger night for Democrats. Other states to watch include Kentucky, where Rep. Andy Barr's seat is up for grabs, and Indiana, where Rep. Victoria Spartz's seat has recently seen Democratic spending.

Florida will also be an important state, with polls closing at 7 p.m. and a significant portion of ballots expected to be counted by 8 p.m. The state will be an early test of how the GOP's redistricting efforts will play out, with several competitive races, including those of Reps.

Kathy Castor and Jared Moskowitz. The outcome of these races will provide insight into the overall political environment and potentially indicate how the rest of the night will unfold.
