Victor Davis Hanson: Democrats’ Dirty Midterm Tricks Are Backfiring—and the Media Are Looking Away

Victor Davis Hanson, a senior contributor to The Daily Signal, shared his thoughts on the upcoming midterms and the tactics being used by Democrats. Hanson discussed an ad supporting Abdul El-Sayed, a candidate who has been accused of being antisemitic, which claimed that Israel was responsible for high prices of certain foods.

Hanson expressed confusion over why Israel was singled out, given the large federal budget and other significant expenditures. He stated that El-Sayed's campaign, if successful, would likely lead to him being on the Foreign Relations Committee, where he could work to demonize the Jewish state.

Hanson also discussed the midterm elections, predicting that the Left would use tactics such as releasing favorable polls and puff pieces to create a sense of momentum. He noted that this election is close, which is a tribute to the Trump administration, as the in-party rarely gains seats in midterm elections.

Hanson pointed to past examples, including Israeli polls that incorrectly predicted the end of Benjamin Netanyahu's tenure, to illustrate how the Left often exaggerates momentum and poll leads to gain favorable media coverage. The use of such tactics, according to Hanson, is intended to influence public opinion and create a sense of inevitability around Democratic victories.

Hanson's comments suggest that he believes these tactics are ultimately backfiring, and that the media is not adequately covering the issue.
