In the recent election, Republicans in Florida managed to avoid significant losses despite a notable swing of Latino voters towards the Democrats. According to voters spoken to by The American Conservative, the GOP can learn from the differences between Latinos of various backgrounds, such as those of South American and Cuban origin, who tend to lean neoconservative on foreign policy.

In Florida, Republican candidate Ashley Moody won Cuban-Americans by seven points, which helped mitigate losses among Hispanics. However, among Venezuelan-Americans, there is frustration with the administration's policy towards Caracas, including concerns over the president's relationship with the regime successor Delcy Rodríguez.

Some Venezuelan-Americans have become disillusioned with the prospect that the regime in Caracas may survive the president's term. The death of around 60 people in ICE custody since the president returned to office and stories of abuse under ICE detention have contributed to these concerns.

Despite this, it is not guaranteed that Democrats will dominate among Latinos in the future, as 45 percent of the demographic still favor mass deportation of illegal immigrants. The Latino community remains broadly against illegal immigration, but a slim majority also favor abolishing ICE.
