Qatari mediators have returned to Tehran in an effort to revive peace talks between the United States and Iran. This development comes as there are concerns that the US may renew its war against Iran after the upcoming midterm elections. Qatar has presented a draft proposal for a diplomatic path forward, and it is reported that progress is being made in talks with Iranian representatives.

The Iranian government is also considering a response to a letter sent by Vice President Vance earlier this week. Additionally, Iran's IRGC has taken action to stop two tankers from taking unauthorized routes through the Strait of Hormuz. This move follows assertions by US Central Command that the US and its regional partners control the international waterway.

The situation in the region remains volatile, with Houthi and Saudi-aligned forces exchanging strikes, resulting in reported casualties in Yemen. The city of Taiz is also under siege by the Houthis, with deteriorating conditions reported. The ongoing tensions have had an impact on oil prices, which rose early Friday, with Brent crude futures nearing $117 per barrel.

As a result, fuel prices in the US have increased, with the average price of regular gasoline at $4.20 per gallon and diesel at $6.32 per gallon. The escalation of the conflict has significant implications for the region and the global economy.
